Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

1. Explain how inclusion is a mindset rather than a place, and describe how meaningful inclusion differs from mere physical space.

2. Describe the continuum between independence and interdependence, and reflect on how personal definitions of independence shape support strategies for AAC users.

3. Identify practical ways to foster self-advocacy in AAC users, including modeling assertiveness, teaching pragmatic communication skills, and leveraging strategies/tools like AAC, UDL, and AEM.
