Abstract

During this session, we will discuss challenges individuals with complex communication needs (CCNs) and their families face when obtaining Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) services.

We will also describe how our center adapted AAC services from traditional in-person service delivery to a virtual telehealth model leveraging support from our state’s Assistive Technology Act program.

We will also highlight how our center used tele-coaching to support caregivers and related service providers.

We conclude with suggestions for providing continued tele-AAC support which began during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.Â
