Abstract

Communication profoundly influences well-being and societal participation. Online meetings, accentuated by the COVID-19 pandemic, underscore the importance of accessible communication. Yet, little is known about its impact on those with complex communication needs (CCAN).

This community-led study explores designing online sessions for individuals with CCAN. Through participatory research, we gained insights into their communication challenges and co-created an open-source toolkit. This toolkit offers guidance, features, and templates for inclusive online meetings. Our findings emphasize the necessity of ensuring communication access for all, promoting dignity and understanding.
