Janice Light, Ph.D., is Professor and Hintz Family Endowed Chair Emerita at Penn State University. Her research, teaching, and outreach has focused on enhancing the language development, literacy skills, and communicative competence of individuals who cannot rely on speech alone to be heard and understood. She has served as the principal investigator on more than 25 federally-funded research grants to improve outcomes for individuals who rely on AAC and their families. She is currently the Principal Investigator of the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Augmentative and Alternative Communication (The RERC on AAC). Dr. Light is the author of more than 160 peer-reviewed papers. She is an ISAAC Fellow and formerly served as Editor of the journal Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
