Abby Zurliene
Abby is the mother of a nine year old child with complex physical and communication needs. Her son was first introduced to AAC just before his third birthday and has continued to develop his communication skills through the use of both non-electronic and electronic PODD systems. Since the beginning of his communication journey, he has attended both segregated and inclusive classrooms. He has been fully included in general education since Kindergarten. The use of a robust communication system has been an enormous tool in helping him develop friendships with both disabled and non-disabled peers as well as help him access and discuss the grade appropriate curriculum at school.
