Esther Klang
Esther Klang is a 30-year-old woman who has been living with quadriplegia and a speech disability for close to two decades. As an accessibility tester and disability rights advocate, she is deeply passionate about ensuring that all spaces—both physical and digital—as well as all forms of communication, are accessible to everyone regardless of ability. Esther has extensive experience in assistive technology (AT) and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and she holds a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) credential, a recognition of her expertise in accessibility standards and best practices. Her lived experience as someone who communicates using AAC and AT fuels her commitment to removing barriers and empowering others.
Esther is especially dedicated to advocating for people with speech disabilities. She works to educate the public and healthcare professionals that communication access is just as vital to human dignity and recovery as any physical or medical intervention. Through her website and digital platforms, Esther shares her personal journey, reviews of assistive technologies, and practical resources for others navigating similar challenges. Her authenticity and transparency have helped build a supportive community for others, and she has become a trusted voice in the assistive technology, augmentative and alternative communication, and disability advocacy space. Esther also frequently participates in research studies, completes surveys to share her experiences, and creates content for her website and YouTube channel, where she offers information, resources, and personal reflections on living with a disability.
In addition to her advocacy and testing work, Esther volunteers her time as a board member and volunteer with NWACS, and is also a dedicated volunteer for Accessible Community. She serves as chair of the LEAD committee and Vice President of Persons who Use AAC for ISAAC, where she is committed to advancing the rights and inclusion of people who use augmentative and alternative communication.
