Gerna Scholte
Gerna Scholte holds a bachelor’s degree in Speech Language Therapy and a master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from Radboud University, Nijmegen. She seamlessly integrates research with everyday clinical practice, working as both a clinician in a rehab center and a researcher. Since 2010, Gerna has championed the rights of individuals with Rett syndrome and others who depend on AAC, emphasizing the importance of every voice being heard. In 2017, she established the Dutch Network of Speech Language Pathologists for Rett Syndrome, bringing together professionals from across the country. In 2024 she joined the team of researchers at AAC centre Milo in Schijndel, becoming part of the Deelkracht consortium, a collaborative initiative where researchers, professionals, and individuals with lived experience work together to develop and share knowledge aimed at creating an accessible society for people with auditory and communicative challenges.
