Jørn Østvik
Jørn Østvik is educated in psychology and have a PhD in health sciences. Before entering academia as a researcher, he held over 20 years of clinical experience in supporting users of AAC, parents, and professionals in developing communication through assessments and interventions to promote the use of AAC.
His clinical work and research interests have included the development of agency, participation, communicative development, social relationships, friendships, inclusion, and issues related to mental health / mental health problems and mentoring among children, adolescents, and adults using AAC. He has also translated and extended experience from using tools for assessment of communication and social relationships into Norwegian. At the university, he supervises at bachelor, master, and PhD levels. Additionally, he is a teacher of mental health and social relationships among users of AAC.
Østvik is a member of the ISAAC International Research Committee, and collaborates with researchers in Norway, Sweden, Australia, Spain, etc. His current research focuses on mental health and mental health problems, mentoring, citizenship, and social relationships among users of AAC and people with disabilities in general.
