Mengxuan Wu
Dr. Mengxuan Wu is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She holds a Ph.D. in Speech, Language, and Hearing Science from the University of Texas at Austin, with a multidisciplinary background in Human Systems Engineering, Applied Psychology, and English-Chinese Translation. Her research focuses on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), with particular interests in symbol design, brain-computer interfaces (BCI), and inclusive communication strategies for individuals with autism spectrum disorder. Dr. Wu has published and presented widely on topics such as spatial prepositions in AAC, EEG-based communication tools, and cross-cultural communication supports. Her work integrates cognitive science, semiotics, and assistive technology, aiming to develop visually accessible and theoretically grounded communication systems for individuals with complex communication needs.
