Willemijn Wetzels

Willemijn is a Dutch Speech-Language Therapist with nearly fifteen years of experience in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). She began her career in a private practice as a generalist SLT, before moving on to work as an AAC Consultant for a reseller. In that role, she supported clients of all ages and backgrounds with a wide range of disabilities, gaining deep insight into the diverse needs of AAC users.
Since 2016, Willemijn has been part of the team at AssistiveWare, where she aimed to make a broader impact within the AAC community. Over the years, she has held several roles, including Vocabulary Design Lead and AAC Specialist. Currently, she serves as Events Manager, using her organizational skills to coordinate AssistiveWare’s attendance to professional events and trainings that support AAC users, families, and professionals.
Willemijn’s work is grounded in a client-centered philosophy, with a strong commitment to improving communication access and outcomes for every individual.
