Abstract

Despite the increased preservice training in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) through coursework, translating knowledge into clinical practice remains a barrier to AAC service provision.

This session will present outcomes from a study examining the use of AAC by speech-langauge pathologists in clinical practice, perceived barriers, and predictors for implementing AAC in clinical practice. We will discuss data driven priorities to address the clinical barriers and preferences for professional development to address the gap in AAC clinical provision.
