Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
1. Identify at least three examples of how restricting access to “taboo” vocabulary can impact communication autonomy and social participation for AAC users.
2. Describe strategies for reframing clinician and caregiver roles to support safe, inclusive vocabulary access in AAC systems.
3. Apply at least two tools or approaches from the session to facilitate authentic expression and reduce gatekeeping in AAC practice.
