Abstract

Nicholas had a stroke in 2018 and lost all expressive language.

He had to learn everything again from sounds, to words, to sentences.

He was a MP and health spokesperson 2017-2021 in the Norwegian parliament, so language was the only weapon he had to work for policy changes. He returned to work again on 1. January 2020 and was able to make big changes in Norwegian law with the limited language he had. He was known as the patient in the health committee.

This talk is about using various communication skills and the road from severe aphasia, being unable to talk, and the fight to get back to parliament.
