Nicholas Wilkinson
I had several small strokes caused by microemboli (small blood clots) in May 2018 due to blood poisoning (sepsis) after one of my wisdom teeth had been taken out. I am happy that I survived, as the health personnel didn’t know if I could survive that ordeal. I lost ability to express myself through language and was paralysed for a short time on my right side. I could however understand language.
I was an MP in Norway in the health committee between 2017 and 2021. I held my seat during my sickness and rehabilitation. I started working again on 1 January 2020, although at that time I still had a lot of speech problems.
I now work for The United Nations Association of Norway as a senior political adviser with responsibility for the sustainable development goals.
I live and work in Norway with my husband, Sebastian.
