LEAD Committee Haiku Poetry Slam

The ISAAC Haiku Poetry Slam will take place at the end of the Opening Ceremonies of the ISAAC Vibes of AAC Virtual Event, which starts at 12:00 pm EDT on October 28 on Zoom and registration is free and open to everyone â€“ ISAAC members and non-members.

The ISAAC Haiku Poetry Slam will be hosted by Lateef McLeod and will be 90 minutes long. The Poetry Slam is open to everyone to attend and participate. People who use AAC will be given priority to share their poetry before non-AAC users.

The Poetry Slam is using a modified Haiku Format of just 3 lines without requiring the certain number of syllables per line like more traditional Haiku formats. Participants are encouraged to prepare their poems early by writing them down and storing them in their device before the event. Participants who want to share multiple poems are welcomed. We hope the format will be accessible for all to participate.

Example of a Haiku:

This Slam will be live.
An event for everyone.
You will catch a vibe.

The Poetry Slam is supported by members of the ISAAC LEAD Committee.

The Committee also holds a Virtual Chat for people who use AAC. For more information check out the following link: https://isaac-online.org/english/news/pwuaac-online-chats/
