Patrick Regan
Patrick Regan lives in Anchorage, Alaska. He has been an AAC user for more than 28 years and received his first high tech speech generating device at age 2.5. He is the President-Elect of the United States Society For Augmentative and Alternative Communication (“USSAAC”), and he has served on USSAAC’s AAC Awareness Committee for the past 2 years. He also is a member of the LEAD Committee of the International Society For Augmentative and Alternative Communication (“ISAAC”), and a frequent chat moderator for ISAAC’s People Who Use AAC. Patrick serves as the Coordinator of Activities and Events for Bridging Communities Through Alternative Communication (“BCTAC”), an adult outreach program of The Bridge School in Hillsborough, California. And he has been organizing virtual activities for the members of that group, including when they meet informally as friends and peer supports. Patrick has also been BCTAC’s Co-President and steered BCTAC’s Leadership Committee for the past several years. He is a mentor in The Bridge School’s Self-Determination Program and to young adult high school students who are preparing for their lives after high school. Patrick has given presentations to speech language pathology students in graduate programs, and young adult AAC users, from the perspective of a long time AAC user. And he recently participated in a US/Japan relations intensive program for people who experience disabilities. He has been employed as a Media Tech and Media Tech Coordinator for St. John United Methodist Church in Anchorage, Alaska, for several years.
