1. Describe characteristics of USSAAC’s AAC Speaker Connection that have led to hiring AAC users in educational, training, advocacy, and professional development events.

2. Explain the benefits to AAC users and other groups that result from amplifying AAC voices across professional and educational settings.

3. Identify ways in which the AAC Speaker Connection is contributing to more diverse and equitable employment in public speaking and educational settings.

Abstract

The AAC Speaker Connection is a platform created in 2022 by USSAAC to amplify the voices of AAC users.  Through an online portal, AAC users connect with universities, schools, conference organizers, media outlets, families, industry professionals, and advocates across the United States. Individuals, institutions, corporations, schools, non-profits, and other entities use the AAC Speaker Connection to find, engage, and employ AAC users as invited speakers for various speaking engagements in classrooms, workshops, clinics, conferences, media outlets, advocacy events, and so on. AAC users can easily share their skills, knowledge, insights, and remarkable stories with diverse audiences.  The AAC Speaker Connection not only enriches educational and professional landscapes but fosters a more inclusive environment.
