Abstract

ISAAC’s LEAD Committee was established in 2006  to represent the interests of people who use AAC and to advance the inclusion of AAC communicators in leadership positions in ISAAC,  its Chapters, and the greater community, through mentoring, advocacy, outreach, and more..

LEAD is chaired by the ISAAC VP of People Who Use AAC.  Its members are also leaders in the AAC community, frequent presenters in classrooms and at conferences. They are published authors on topics of interest to AAC communicators, their families and the professionals who support them. They are students, educators, and leaders in other organizations.

The LEAD Committee develops projects to bring together AAC communicators worldwide, to make connections with others who use AAC. Examples of those projects are AAC communicator-led chats, a book club for AAC communicators, opportunities for AAC communicators to share their poetry, and ISAAC Conference pre-conference activities for AAC communicators.

Members of the LEAD Committee will share their personal perspectives on the committee, and share about opportunities for AAC communicators to build leadership skills and to serve in leadership positions in ISAAC and its chapters.
